Owner Kathy’s passion, her pride and her joy, are the gardens of Te Arai Lodge, where she, and her husband Vince, have personally planted over 4000 shrubs, trees and plants together with an extensive array of raised vegetable and herb gardens.

As it matures, the orchard promises a rich bounty of lemons, lemonades, limes, oranges, blood oranges, mandarins, feijoas, figs, tamarillos, avocados, papayas, bananas, plums, apples, pears, and an assortment of nut trees. The orchard is also where our free-range chickens will run and our bees will make their honey.

50 olive trees will eventually provide the lodge with its own organic extra-virgin olive oil to complement the range of locally produced award-winning varietals that are currently used in the cuisine.
