The Te Arai and wider Mangawhai region boast a wide range of walks including one of the best coastal walks in New Zealand, the Mangawhai Cliff Walk, which journeys over beaches, native forests and cliff tops with spectacular panoramic views out to the islands off the Mangawhai coast.

Gravel Cycling
Te Arai offers some of New Zealand’s finest and most scenic gravel cycling. Explore a variety of routes along costal roads, through native forests, over rolling tuscan style farm land and over category level climb. Mountain bikes and helmets are available to guests at no charge and gravel, road and E-bikes are available by request.

Beach Bike Riding
Ride the pristine Te Arai beach on our Trek fat tyre bikes. This is a truly unique experience riding along 11km of untouched golden sand beaches. On your ride, you can climb the sand dunes, swim in the crystal clear ocean and explore the beautiful Mangawhai estuary often without another person in sight. This experience includes bike use, drop off and pick up from the beach, refreshments and snacks.

Horse Riding
Enjoy a magical horse trekking experience along the pristine white sand beaches of Waipu with Waipu Horse Adventures. Treks are guided and suitable for all abilities from beginners through to intermediate riders. Traverse pristine native bushland alight with gorse, flirt with the unspoilt Uretiti shoreline, frolic in the Bream Bay shallows and savour the breathtaking scenery.
